68Introduction
Health of any kind involves two components, physical and mental.
When we have both, we are in top form. When one is down, the other is affected. So it is important for our total well being to ensure we have physical and mental health and do things to maintain it.
The body and mind are designed for health.
We can maintain our physical health with a proper diet, exercise and care (i.e., dressing properly for the environment).
Our mental health is just as important, and this too requires a type of diet and exercise.
This is where mental self help comes into play. One way of achieving this is through subliminal programs. This article will discuss the importance of mental self help programs to keep our minds in top form, managing the mental component of total wellness and health.
The Mind Body Connection
The mind and body are intimately connected.
When one is ill, the other will start to deteriorate, although in many cases, we can bounce back because our bodies and minds are designed for health.
Have you ever had a cold?
You know the symptoms; runny nose, headaches, stuffiness, elevated temperature. These symptoms are not a disease. They are a sign of a working immune system.

The body needs all its energy for expelling the little nasties. By dampening our mental activities, making us want to sleep, our bodies can have the greatest energy reserve for the physical fight against the invaders. It takes work to fight a war, even on a microbial level!
As our bodies are designed for health and automatically work to this end, so too do our minds work for maintaining our mental health.
Why Mental Health?
Mental health is as vital to survival as is physical health. In modern times, thanks to technology, we have an easy way to maintain mental health.
Mental Self Help programs are very useful because they are like exercises and nutritional supplements for the mind. When we are not mentally at our best, we can become more susceptible to physical illness, we leave the "back door open" so to speak. This is why good mental health is essential.

We can become depressed and feel like "giving up".

Courtesy is more than being nice, it is actually mental healthy. "Please" and "Thank You" are two of the most powerfully mentally supportive phrases we have available to us.

There is no way you can enlarge your "privates" through a mental self help program of any kind. The body is what the body is. There is no way you can use mental self help programs to grow more hair, correct vision problems that come from a physical malfunction, grow additional limbs and so on.
You can encourage better body health (which means you will eventually do the things to take better care of your body) but you cannot change DNA or other built in factors mentally any more than you can mentally lift an automobile off the ground. Such stuff is fantasy and good for movies and TV shows, but totally unrealistic.
Some common sense here will guide you.
Also be careful of mental self help programs that claim to correct phobias of any kind. Phobias are serious mental health problems best treated by a qualified psychological professional. Many phobias involve trauma, and the support of a professional is essential in dealing with such things.
That said, there are some "strange" areas where a mental self help program can expand your mental capabilities:
- Improving psychic abilities (this does not mean "mind reading", it really means improving empathy for/with others)
- Improving spiritual awareness
- Improving intuition
- Improving imagination and fantasy
- Improving visualization
- Improving inspiration
These are all aspects of human thinking, but they are on the "periphery" of the scale because science has not yet been able to accurately measure these abilities that we naturally possess.

The mind body experience is a rich aspect of how we live. We can maintain both the physical and mental parts of our lives with exercise and good nutrition.
For the body, these are obvious; good diet, proper physical exercise and activity.
For the mind, these can come from a variety of sources -- surrounding yourself with positive people, learning new things, having a healthy curiosity and expanding your mental horizons.
